Ontario Association of Police Educators
“Fostering Excellence in Police Training . . .for over 25 Years!”
Having just concluded our 2016 Conference, we are pleased to report that we received very positive reviews.
We would like to thank all of our delegates for their commitment to learning, for sharing ideas and engaging with all of our speakers. I believe that we all walked away having gained new knowledge and some new friends. Special thanks to our speakers who took the time out their busy schedules to share their knowledge with our delegates. This commitment from our police leaders, both with and without rank, is a clear indicator that this conference continues to offer value and worth to police trainers. We added experiential learning stations this year after comments from past delegates who said they would like to see some hands on learning. Delegates were given the opportunity to drive a vehicle on OPC’s track and experience what happens as OnStar engaged their vehicle slow down system. Our “bad guys” didn’t get far!! We also had Brantford Police Service supply one of their officers and a special vehicle that read plates and checked them to see if there were any issues with it. Delegates were able to observe and put this equipment into operation on the OPC grounds. Thank you Brantford Police Service for making this to happen! Wellness was very popular with our own Judy Manherz instructing in stress release techniques. Our Trade Show was informative and offered a hands on component where the delegates were able to use a use of force simulator. We thank our vendors for providing education and the opportunity to handle the newest tools and equipment that help keep our officers safe.
On behalf of myself, the OAPE executive and board, we thank all that attended our 2016 Conference. You really make it what it is! We look forward to continue to serve your interests in police education.
