Ontario Association of Police Educators

“Fostering Excellence in Police Training . . .for over 25 Years!”

Gord Scott

As the new President of OAPE I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the 100+ delegates for sharing in our 25th Anniversary Conference. It was a pleasure spending this week with you.
Our theme this year was about our role to help our fellow officers through difficult times by teaching and preparing them for what lies ahead. As one delegate said, the information from this conference has the ability to change a life.

As with all things, change is inevitable, and as such, I’m taking this opportunity to welcome Mike Thompson of Chatham-Kent to our Board of Directors.

I’m very proud to have been nominated to lead this organization into the next quarter century. I have a much easier job thanks to the past presidents I have worked with, Jeff Littlewood and Michael Knight. I owe them much. I’m extending a special thank you to Mike Gobeil who has been with OAPE since it’s inception. His 25 years of contributions and commitment have been invaluable.  I would be remiss if I didn’t also thank Chris Niblett and Mike Foreman for their valuable contributions over the past years. Gentlemen, as you retire and move on to other things, thank you. They will be  all be missed.

The OAPE board and I look forward to hosting you again over the next year at either one of our sponsored programs or at next years conference.

Stay safe, look after each other and never let a moment of learning pass you by, then share it with someone else.

Gord Scott
