Steve Haennel is an 18-year member of the Ontario Provincial Police and holds the rank of Sergeant. He started his career in the Chatham Detachment and has since been posted throughout Ontario.

Steve began his training career on a part-time basis instructing in both firearms and first aid. He was then seconded to the Ontario Police College for two years where he taught Police Vehicle Operations and Defensive Tactics.

Steve is currently the In-Service (IST) Training Coordinator at the Provincial Police Academy in Orillia. There he oversees 16 Training Units comprised of 55 full-time Trainers who are deployed throughout the Province of Ontario. Steve is an active member of OAPE and currently holds the position of Past President.
