About:

Michael Knight is a Sergeant with the Aylmer Police and has been policing since 1986. He is the training officer for Aylmer, which complements his regular duties of general patrol and investigations as well as functioning in a supervisory capacity. His interest in training developed from his time spent as a Secondary School teacher prior to becoming a police officer. His formal education includes Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education Degrees, as well as an Ontario Teachers Certificate. He was seconded to the Ontario Police College from 1997-99 teaching in both the Academics and Firearms Sections. Topics taught in the Academic section included Federal Statutes, Provincial Statutes, Evidence, Tactical Communications, Domestic Violence, Officer Safety, Anti-racism, and Drugs. He periodically returns to the OPC to act as a guest facilitator in Domestic Violence and also assists with OPP Block training on an ongoing basis. He has provided training to other agencies, for example the YCJA to the Federal Parole Officers London Office and also to the Principal Course for the Thames Valley District School Board.
