"Michael Knight is a Sergeant with the Aylmer Police and has been policing since 1986. He is the supervising training officer for Aylmer, which complements his regular duties of general patrol, investigations, and administration. His interest in training developed from his time spent as a Secondary School teacher prior to joining policing. His formal education includes Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education Degrees, as well as an Alberta and Ontario Teachers Certificates. He was seconded to the Ontario Police College from 1997-99 teaching in both the Academics and Firearms Sections. Topics taught in the Academic section included Federal and Provincial Statutes, Evidence, Tactical Communications, Domestic Violence, Officer Safety, Anti-Racism, Advanced Patrol Training, and Drugs. He periodically returns to the OPC to act as a guest facilitator for Domestic Violence, and has been a part-time Instructor for OPP Block Training since 2002. He has provided training for the Federal Parole Officers London Office, Aylmer Fire Department, and the Thames Valley District School Board Principals course. He has been a member of OAPE since 2001 and joined the Executive board as a Director in 2003, then accepted the position of Treasurer in 2007. He has been active in the Ontario Police Video Training Alliance (OPVTA) as a Director on the board of Executives since 2006, assuming the responsibility of Chair in 2007 where he currently remains. He also is a member of the Ontario Association of Chief's of Police (OACP) Training Committee."
